Andrew Tate is a British-American social media personality, businessman, and former professional kickboxer. He was born on December 1, 1986, in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.. Tate began practicing kickboxing in 2005 and gained his first championship in 2009. He was a kickboxing world champion four times. Tate attracted wider attention in 2016 when he appeared on the British reality show Big Brother and was removed after his controversial commentary and the release of a video that appeared to show him attacking a woman.

Tate’s controversial commentary has resulted in his suspension from several social media platforms. He is a self-described misogynist. Tate’s website promotes an “ultra-masculine, ultra-luxurious lifestyle”. On TikTok, videos with the #AndrewTate hashtag have been viewed more than 12.7 billion times. Tate has a huge online following but is also divisive.

In March 2023, Tate was detained in Romania as part of a human trafficking and rape investigation. He was released from jail in April 2023 and placed under house arrest while he is being investigated. Tate has suggested that he will be murdered and that a “bullet will be the chosen utensil of pacification”.
