How To View Your Google Chrome Saved Passwords

Google Chrome does an excellent job of remembering your identities and passwords. What happens, however, if you want to log in to a particular website from another device but can’t recall your password and it isn’t loading the information for you? You can quickly access a list of all saved passwords by browsing Chrome settings, then manually typing it in.

This article explains how to locate and examine your Google Chrome Passwords in detail. Remember that this procedure will only reveal the passwords you have saved in Chrome. You’ll also learn useful tips such as exporting your stored passwords and removing sites from your “Never Saved” list. Let’s get this party underway.

How to View Google Chrome Saved Passwords on Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, and Linux

Because you are viewing your credentials in the Chrome browser, the procedure is the same for all desktop/laptop operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome OS (Chromebook), and so on. The security warning is the sole exception. Here’s how to go about it.

  1. Start “Google Chrome” on your computer or laptop, then select the “vertical ellipsis” (Menu) in the upper right-hand corner of the screen or your “profile icon.”

How to Save Passwords to Chrome using Windows, Mac, or Linux

  1. When you enter a new password on a particular website, Chrome will prompt you to save it unless it is in the “Never Save” list. To add it to Password Manager, click “Save.” If it does not show, proceed to “Step 3.”
  2. If you have multiple passwords for a particular page and want to save a new one, click on the “email field” and enter the email/username you want to use.
  3. If you don’t see a pop-up asking you to save your password, the feature is most likely disabled. Open a fresh “Chrome” tab on your computer or mobile device.

Within Android’s “Passwords” Settings, you can also enable Chrome’s “Auto Sign-In” feature. On iOS, it can be found in “Settings -> Passwords -> Autofill Passwords -> Chrome.” However, this option is not recommended, primarily because it creates problems when you have multiple accounts for the same website and use third-party password managers.

Furthermore, you can choose a specific account password, but “Auto Sign-In” resets the credentials to the preset password and logs you in, making it difficult to resolve. To log in the way you want to for that website, you must disable auto sign-in (and potentially Chrome Password Manager).

How to Edit Saved Passwords in Chrome on Android or iOS/iPhone

There are two kinds of saved passwords (and autologin features) that can be edited using Chrome Password Manager on Android or iPhone: websites and apps. Website login credentials, such as disney.com, finish with “.com,” whereas apps, such as Disney+, appear by name. As a result, in order for autologin to function, you must edit the appropriate entry.

This option is completely understandable if you are visiting a website that contains sensitive information. What if you abruptly decide to remove that website’s password from the “Never Saved” list so you can save it? Fortunately, doing so is a simple job.
