The Batman

The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who also wrote the screenplay. It is a reboot of the Batman film franchise and produced by DC Films6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie stars Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City‘s vigilante detective and his alter ego Bruce Wayne.

The plot of the movie revolves around a sadistic serial killer who begins murdering key political figures in Gotham City. Batman is forced to investigate the city’s hidden corruption and question his family’s involvement. According to Baker, one of the producers of The Batman, the film “enriches Batman’s legacy, complicating it by trusting its audience to interrogate his heroism and eventually ponder what makes Batman a hero — or if he’s even a hero at all”.

The movie departs from previous adaptations of Batman by questioning his ethics and focusing on his material wealth. It also explores grief, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder through Batman. Despite some aspects that kept some viewers from completely loving it, The Batman has been praised as one of the best takes on the superhero with a lot of potentials to be better than Christopher Nolan’s trilogy (The Batman)
